Restrictions on Photography of Transit Vehicles
So.CA.TA is concerned about the trend toward unreasonable restrictions being placed on the photographing of in-service public transit vehicles. An example of this is LADOT's Code of Conduct for Passengers that restricts the use of photographic equipment.
The L.A. Dept. of Transportation includes among their rules of conduct for transit users:
#11 - Videotaping or taking photographs on any LADOT vehicle is prohibited without the prior consent of LADOT.
We urge e-mailing messages protesting this rule to L.A. Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, Chair of the City Council Transportation Committee: councilman.rosendahl@lacity.org
Also of concern is the experience of a Valley College student while taking photos in a Red Line station as part of a school project: http://www.laobserved.com/archive/2005/11/take_pictures_see_fbi_1.php
